Button Actions: custom and ideas

Anyone interested in talking about the button actions?

I was thinking it might be nice to have more options.

Long hold: power on and off(I accidentally turn it off when with double tap sometimes)

Single tap: mute

Double tap: process conversation

It shouldn’t be too hard to make each of these options select able to different actions, but I’m no programmer so I can only suggest and hope you geniuses can make it work.

Cheers.

Hello, this would be a great feature, we should see it soon as it is on our roadmap.

Update to my feature request. Change the colour of the LED when muted. I often leave Omi on my desk and mute as needed instead of powering off. This would give me a visual of its status.

This feature should be top item in the backlog. @Aarav Garg @Hugo A.

I turn off Omi accidentally daily. I’d probably disable single press completely and have double press for power off (double press rarely happens accidentally.) Funny, but today the button of my device stopped working altogether. Well, at least no accidental turning off anymore! 😂

I find it waay too easy to accidentally turn on Omi, resulting in numerous wasted ‘listening’ minutes. Would be nice to have the option of a slightly more ‘complicated’ way of turning it on to listen, e.g. hold for x seconds, triple tap, etc.

    Custom Button Mapping

Users need more flexibility in how the omi button interacts with their workflows. Currently, the device offers limited preset actions, but allowing users to assign custom actions to specific button interactions (single press, double press, long press) would provide much greater usability and customization.

By enabling users to configure button actions through the app, the device becomes adaptable to individual preferences and enhances integration with external workflows or apps.

    Challenges

    • Limited preset actions: Users can only perform a few fixed actions with button presses (e.g., power off).

Lack of customization: Different users may have unique needs for how they want the button to function.

    Benefits

✅ Enhances flexibility: Users can tailor the device to suit their specific needs.
✅ Improves usability: Allows quick access to commonly used features without relying on the app interface.
✅ Supports diverse workflows: Makes the device more versatile for different users and use cases.

In hardcore sales call mode right now leading up to a trade show and trying to keep every conversation separated as one call. Customizable single click, double click, and throw the power off on a triple click if possible would be golden. I'd have the stop button to force processing the transcript on the single click, and mute/unmute on a double click, then power on the triple, and chat on the press and hold. Right now I have to leave my phone screen open and hit the stop button on the app after every call.

    Pause button

Since the device is a button, let the power click be a long, while short clicks can be actions, similar to bee having double click is a custom button, I.e. let me pause the device, or process the current

That feature is essential. It's a deal-breaker, actually. I need to be able to quickly start and stop recording with a quick tap of the button, not a long press.

Recent app update allows you to double click to end & process a conversation, star it, or mute/unmute.

    Customisable actions for CV1

As I'm seeing that the use cases of CV1 are very different from a user to another, having all actions customizable would be the best way to match all usages.

Customisable actions on the CV1 could be :

    • tap (if capable)

    • double-tap (if capable)

    • 1-press

    • 1-long-press (2 or 3 seconds)

    • 2-quick-press

    • 2press-and-hold

    • 3-press

Of course, they'll be switched according to the current status of the device : e.g. 2-quick-press = “turn on” only if the status is off, ELSE it’d be “turn off”.

Then, we should maybe launch a poll to vote for the default behaviours.

Hi, love the idea. It makes a lot of sense, and we're actually already working on that feature. You should see it in one of the upcoming updates, so definitely keep an eye out and make sure your app is up to date.

Please keep the suggestions coming. We really appreciate the feedback since it helps us build a better experience for everyone.

    Quick actions

Adding Quick Actions would enable faster access to recording features from a smart gadgets. This is especially important when using custom hardware, where Siri shortcuts alone are not sufficient.

    Trigger app w/ button

As a user, I want to choose which apps will trigger the 'button click'.

    Key results:

    • App: The user can choose which apps are triggered when the 'button click' command is sent.

    • Back-end: The triggering apps must be called, then respond with the result to users via chat and notifications when the command is triggered.

    Webhook for button click

It would be cool to be able to send transcript of hold and press of button to external integration. (n8n in my case) could there be a dev webhook option added in developer settings for that?

Maybe even detect and send over keypresses (hold, double, triple)

do u wanna try working on this @fffttt in case you’re a developer? I could add a bounty to this if there’s interest. Check attached GH issue to this post!

With the Limitless pendant, it does work to star the entire conversation. But ideally, I was wanting it to ⭐ that actual segment, not the entire conversation.
