Users need more flexibility in how the omi button interacts with their workflows. Currently, the device offers limited preset actions, but allowing users to assign custom actions to specific button interactions (single press, double press, long press) would provide much greater usability and customization.

By enabling users to configure button actions through the app, the device becomes adaptable to individual preferences and enhances integration with external workflows or apps.

Challenges

  • Limited preset actions: Users can only perform a few fixed actions with button presses (e.g., power off).

Lack of customization: Different users may have unique needs for how they want the button to function.

    Sorry for spamming this comment in a lot of places, hard to figure out what the totally right place is: One of the behaviors really needs to be the button just does nothing, or at least requires some relatively complex pattern to do anything. Current behavior makes it pretty unusable if you have or work with kids who you pick up on a regular basis.

    Customize button press behavior

    I'm looking for single press: mute/unmute, triple-press on/off, long press 5s: question response.

    I keep accidentally turning this device off.

    In hardcore sales call mode right now leading up to a trade show and trying to keep every conversation separated as one call. Customizable single click, double click, and throw the power off on a triple click if possible would be golden. I'd have the stop button to force processing the transcript on the single click, and mute/unmute on a double click, then power on the triple, and chat on the press and hold. Right now I have to leave my phone screen open and hit the stop button on the app after every call.
