I purchased the device as a personal memory aid because of a few health issues. I immediately set up my Gemini API, but somehow I still reached a limit. I believe this happened because the device is frequently disconnecting and the offline recordings are not being processed through Gemini. This has also caused me to receive a personal use warning and be throttled. All this occurred in under a week. I disconnected the device from my phone while I investigated the issue and now I have even more offline recordings. I don’t see any way to stop them from being processed and I’m really concerned I’m going to end up banned for misuse. How can I route the current backlog to the correct location and how can I prevent this in the future? I’m really unsure how I’m supposed to use the device without holding my phone in my hand all day, which defeats the purpose entirely.

    I’m sorry especially when you’re relying on Omi as a memory aid. You should not need to hold your phone all day. A Gemini key used for live custom transcription does not route saved offline recordings through Gemini; offline sync currently uses Omi’s transcription service and may count toward Omi’s limits.

    For now, please don’t manually sync or delete the backlog. In current app builds, Device Settings → Auto Sync can pause automatic uploads; if a sync is already running, Offline Sync has a Cancel option. This pauses transfer, not recording, and cannot reroute files already uploaded. Please don’t reset the device or reinstall the app while recordings are pending.

    Could you privately send support your Omi app and firmware versions, a screenshot of the exact warning, and the pending/synced recording counts—with your API key hidden? We need to review your account before saying what caused the throttle or how best to handle this backlog. For future live use, keeping the phone nearby and allowing Omi to run in the Android background may help with disconnections; it should not require holding the phone. Omi’s connection guidance
