Omi has the potential to become a true second brain, not just a meeting recorder

Hello everyone -

I’m writing this in the hope it reaches the team developing Omi.

Today, there are many companies focused on selling either hardware or a standalone app to record meetings and then summarize them into templates, mind maps, or other creative formats. I searched every corner of the internet before finding Omi because my need is quite specific.

I do not need another device to record meetings. I already own a dedicated device for that, and at work I am using an AI solution adopted by the company to record and summarize meetings. What I truly want is software, not another device, that can capture thoughts and important moments throughout my day, build a memory log, and automatically create task lists. That is when an AI actually becomes helpful to me.

Hardware still matters, because I do not always have my phone nearby. That is what pushed me to look for a hardware option in the first place. Unfortunately, most of what I found was unreliable or had issues like buttons activating on their own and other usability problems.

During this search, I came across Omi.me and Bee.computer. To my surprise, they are quite similar, even down to the brain icon. Between the two, I found Omi more intuitive and better organized. However, there are a few things that, if added, could make Omi much more than just a meeting recorder and turn it into a true second brain, which is exactly how I would like to use it.

Here are the key points for me, all of which are Bee features

  1. The most important one: Bee allows voice capture through the Apple Watch. This is brilliant because it removes the need for another piece of hardware that can fail, and it is with me all the time, even more consistently than my phone. This would be a huge feature for Omi.

  2. Native integration with Gmail and Google Calendar

  3. Integration with Apple Reminders

  4. Integration with Apple Health

I think the benefits of these integrations are self-explanatory, but for my use case they are essential, and all of these are Bee features.

One thing I really like is the idea of presenting all recordings from the day, with the option to include location. This is a Bee feature, and it is extremely powerful for recalling specific and important moments from the day, which is exactly the core functionality I am looking for.

In short, I hope this longer post helps clarify how I see Omi being used alongside or instead of other solutions like Bee. I would be happy to talk with the Omi team about my experience and this usage model.

What I truly do not want is another app or another piece of hardware whose only purpose is recording meetings.
