Should 3rd party apps, in theory, be able to read the Omi Dev Kit 2's battery status/percent charge?
Specifically it'd be great if the android "Multi-Device Energy Monitor AI" app would work with it. This app allows battery use to be graphed over time, and gives estimates of run times.

Hi Danny,
Thanks for getting in touch. Energy Monitor can only monitor Bluetooth
devices that expose their battery level via standard Bluetooth
protocols. Some devices, including dev kits and custom hardware, use
proprietary protocols, which means their battery data isn’t visible to
other apps.
If a device connects but doesn’t appear in the app as a compatible
device, it usually means its battery level isn’t being exposed in a way
Android allows third-party apps to read. The same applies when designing
custom hardware. Battery data needs to be exposed via the standard
classic or LE protocols in order to be read by Energy Monitor. Most
earphones work in this way so that their battery levels can be read by
all kinds of devices without any additional drivers or OEM software
installed.
We have written a guide to monitoring Bluetooth devices and
troubleshoting them here:

I’ve noted this down to get it in the FAQ and potentially make this
clearer in the app. Many thanks for the thoughtful feedback!
