DO A LIGHT MODE VERSION OF THE APP, DARK MODE HURTS MY EYES
Use a light mode version of the app, dark mode hurts my eyes.
Research published in the journal Ergonomics shows that the human visual system processes dark text on light backgrounds 26% faster than light text on dark backgrounds.
This advantage exists because the iris closes slightly when viewing bright backgrounds, creating a smaller aperture that increases depth of field and sharpens focus on individual characters.
Dark mode forces prolonged pupil dilation, reducing visual acuity and making rapid text scanning difficult, especially when users need to quickly locate specific information.
Studies from the Nielsen Norman Group confirm that while dark mode reduces eye strain in low-light environments, light mode is superior for sustained reading comprehension and quick information retrieval, making a white mode option essential for users who prioritize speed and clarity.
This would be amazing🙏

Please link your references. If this is the case, we need both modes (like most apps do and automatically change day/night mode).

A quick check: https://www.perplexity.ai/search/any-proof-research-published-i-LHECu8SITXmZosWqwh72IA
In short:
“The idea that a “white mode option is essential” is a design opinion, not a strict finding of the studies NN/g summarizes. They do stress that light mode is generally better for performance, but they also acknowledge that some users (e.g., with cataracts or light sensitivity) benefit from dark mode, so the recommendation is more nuanced: support both modes and let users choose, or adapt to context.”
