Data Sync via Wireless Charger

The Omi pendant is a powerful tool, but syncing audio data currently requires either a Bluetooth connection to a phone or a manual transfer process. I'd like to request that the Omi wireless charger be upgraded to support data transfer — not just power delivery.

The idea:
When the pendant is placed on the charger, it would automatically sync all stored audio/transcript data to a connected device (PC, Mac, or NAS) over the same physical connection that delivers power. Similar to how some smartwatches sync health data during charging, the Omi could use the charger as a nightly data pipeline — no phone required.

Why this matters:

  • Many users (myself included) run home server or NAS setups and want audio data flowing directly to local storage without routing through a phone

  • BLE sync works but has range and reliability constraints — a wired charger connection would be rock solid

  • It enables fully offline, privacy-first workflows where pendant data never touches a phone or cloud unless the user explicitly chooses

  • Overnight charging becomes overnight syncing — zero extra steps

Proposed implementation:
The charger could expose as a USB device or communicate over the charging contacts using a data protocol (similar to Apple's MagSafe data transfer concepts or pogo-pin smartwatch chargers). A companion local server app or driver could handle the receiving side.

Use case:
Place pendant on charger before bed. Wake up. All of yesterday's audio is already processed and indexed locally. Clean, simple, automatic.

This would meaningfully expand Omi's appeal for power users and privacy-conscious users who want local-first data ownership. Would love to see this on the roadmap.
